TruAmerica Promotes Multiple Leaders to Senior-Level Roles as National Multifamily Investment Firm Cultivates Talent, Advances Culture of Growth

Roles involve Acquisitions, Portfolio Management, Asset Management, Capital Improvements, and Accounting Groups at L.A.-based Institutional Investment-Focused Platform

Los Angeles, March 27, 2023—TruAmerica Multifamily, a national, institutionally-focused multifamily investment firm based in Los Angeles, has announced the promotions of five key executives to new senior-level positions at the vertically integrated enterprise. Ammanuel Metta was promoted to Managing Director of Acquisitions, Austen Mount to Director of Portfolio Management, Erica Joseph to Director of Asset Management, Airy Salgado to Director of Capital Improvements, and Meng Honsberger to Controller. Based in Dallas, Metta will focus on TruAmerica’s Texas and Midwest acquisition and growth strategy. Salgado and Mount are based in Los Angeles, Joseph is based in Las Vegas, while Honsberger is based in Woodland Hills, Calif.

“TruAmerica continues to cultivate talent within our dynamic corporate culture of growth. It is rewarding to see professionals like Ammanuel, Austen, Erica, Airy, and Meng emerge as leaders as their careers flourish,” said Robert E. Hart, founder, CEO, and President of TruAmerica. “I congratulate each for their dedication and contributions to the growth of their departments and the success of the overall company.”

Since Metta joined the value-add multifamily firm in 2020, he has proven his value as a high-level acquisition leader who has significantly facilitated TruAmerica’s growth guiding his Texas and Central Region team. Metta produced remarkable results during the pandemic, leading the acquisition of $780 million in assets, encompassing 13 properties in five cities—Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and Columbus, Ohio. All these transactions represented new markets for TruAmerica. In addition, eight different investment partners were involved in these 13 properties and five of these acquisitions were sourced completely off-market, an accomplishment attributed to Metta’s relentless pursuit and persistence of identified acquisition targets.

Metta is a 20-year veteran of the CRE market, including more than 15 years of multifamily investment experience with 10 of those in the Texas market. Metta said, “The road ahead is both filled with opportunity and challenges as we expand our Texas and Midwest portfolio. I am confident with the team’s collaborative support and national resources of TruAmerica, we will continue building our multifamily investment platform with institutional investors.”

Mount’s promotion to Director of Portfolio Management comes on the heels of major portfolio-wide software implementation, that he led, which will enable TruAmerica to efficiently aggregate data utilizing business intelligence and benchmarking solutions that will benefit both acquisitions underwriting and asset operations. He joined TruAmerica in 2020 after earning a master’s in business administration (MBA) in real estate finance and entrepreneurship from UCLA's Anderson School of Management. He had previously served at TruAmerica as an investments intern in 2019.

Joseph’s promotion to Director, Asset Management, follows her joining the firm in 2021. Her critical and analytical thinking have been pivotal with increasing and maximizing portfolio performance in the Las Vegas and Phoenix MSA’s and her leadership skills and ability to build a team are exemplary. She was highly instrumental and contributed to the overall success of TruAmerica’s migration to the RealPage platform and numerous operational policies and procedures adopted companywide have been attributed to Joseph.

Salgado will shift from a Construction Manager role at TruAmerica to Director of Capital Improvements where she will oversee unit interior renovations nationally. She joined the firm in 2021 with more than 14 years in property management as a multi-site residential and commercial leader. Her accomplishments at TruAmerica have subsequently been focused on multifamily unit renovations, which are a critical component to the firm’s business plans.

Honsberger shifts to Controller of TruAmerica after serving in the accounting department in various roles since 2017, the most recent as Assistant Controller. She brings extensive experience in system reviews, monthly close process, financial reporting, general ledger accounting and financial analysis.

TruAmerica also announced five additional promotions. Katie Gonzalez was promoted to Senior Transactions Manager, Ben Coden was promoted to Senior Portfolio Analyst, Phoebe Luong and Sandra Omania were promoted to Assistant Controllers, and Madeline Avillion was promoted to Investor Relations Coordinator.
