James Crowder serves as Managing Director of Affordable Housing at TruAmerica Multifamily, where he leads the firm’s affordable housing investment strategy, including acquisitions, asset management, and long-term portfolio performance across LIHTC and HUD-regulated assets.
Mr. Crowder brings more than 15 years of experience in affordable housing investment, development, and operations. He has executed over $2 billion in transactions across the United States and has extensive experience structuring and closing complex affordable housing investments involving LIHTC, tax-exempt bonds, HUD programs, and public-private partnerships.
Prior to joining TruAmerica, Mr. Crowder served as Executive Vice President of Acquisitions and Asset Management at CCI, Inc., where he led enterprise-wide investment strategy, portfolio performance, and organizational transformation initiatives, including the restructuring of asset management and property management platforms and implementation of institutional operating systems.
Previously, Mr. Crowder was Chief Operating Officer at LEDG Capital Partners, where he helped scale the firm from inception to over 6,000 units while building the asset management, accounting, human resources, and technology infrastructure to support growth. Earlier in his career, he spent a decade at Hunt Capital Partners, where he closed more than 70 LIHTC transactions totaling over 7,000 units and $1.8 billion in development costs.
Mr. Crowder began his affordable housing career in Community Development Banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance Real Estate from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.
James is the father of four children and spends his free time volunteering as a youth mountain bike coach.
